The Garneau club could not operate without the generous time donated by it's members and volunteers. We could not maintain our premier facilities without you!

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered at Spring Clean-up on April 25, 2015. Despite the weather, we had the best turn out ever! With the help of our many volunteers we were able to do things like varnish the tennis posts and move clay from the corners; something we'd never done at cleanup before!
We've also had wonderful turn-out for volunteers at our tournaments. Thank you for making them such a success and making our club THE place to play.

$100 Volunteer Deposit

Two years ago at the Garneau Davis Cup tennis tournament the Board provided the participants with a brief update of a range of things that were happening at the club. The Board also requested suggestions from the members on how to improve services and how to increase member participation in assisting with the many tasks that need to be carried out to keep the club operational - starting with spring clean up and finishing with fall clean up. One of the suggestions we received was that each member be required to provide a deposit when they registered. The deposit would be refunded to the member after s/he completed a specified number of volunteer hours. The Board considered this suggestion carefully and concluded that to continue to build a sustainable summer tennis facility, it was necessary to implement an arrangement that encouraged members to volunteer. And the suggestion put forward was our best alternative.

The Garneau Board has agreed that a $100 deposit would be collected from each tennis member (this excludes drop-in members) and with a volunteer contribution of 4 hours this deposit will be refunded to that member. A schedule of volunteer opportunities will be posted and sign-in sheets will be available such that the volunteer time can be recorded. The Board trusts that this will be understood in the spirit it is intended. To encourage participation of a broad range of our membership in improving the operations and services that the club provides.
